Compliance
Skilled Healthcare Group subsidiaries are committed to complying with the laws and regulations that govern the provision of healthcare services and payment for those services. Consistent with the commitment, the Company has adopted a Compliance Program designed to assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures that promote adherence to applicable Federal and State statutes and regulations and to help prevent fraud, waste, and abuse. Subsidiary employees participate in annual compliance training to receive information with regard to their duties and obligations pursuant to the Compliance Program. A third-party Compliance Hotline is maintained to provide employees, contractors, and customers the ability to anonymously report concerns.
Skilled Healthcare Group has also adopted a Code of Conduct that is designed to promote ethical and legal behavior and to provide guidance for making appropriate decisions. The Code of Conduct explains the legal and ethical standards that govern its subsidiaries’ employees and contractors in fulfilling business responsibilities. The full text of a Code of Conduct may be obtained by accessing “Investor Relations” on the Company’s website or by contacting the Compliance Hotline at 800.949.6607.
The federal government and some states have adopted laws that provide assistance in combating fraud, waste, and abuse. Some of these laws contain “whistleblower” provisions that protect employees who report illegal conduct to appropriate authorities. These laws specifically prohibit retaliation or discrimination against employees who make such reports in good faith. These laws may also allow employees to share in a percentage of any monetary recovery obtained by the government. A summary of these laws is provided to employees.
